Close nipples (also called “running nipples”) are the shortest type of pipe nipple, with threads running almost the entire length leaving little or no unthreaded center. Manufactured from black carbon steel per ASTM A733 standard, they are ideal for tight-space installations where minimal projection is required. Available in sizes 1/8″ to 4″ with NPT or BSP threading.

A close pipe nipple is very short with threaded ends that meet at the center with little to no unthreaded section.
Also referred to as a “running nipple”, it is the most compact pipe nipple.
It is the go-to solution when two fittings must be connected with almost no gap between them.
Our close black carbon steel nipples have a characteristic dark oxide surface finish that provides basic corrosion resistance.

The main difference between a close nipple and a standard pipe nipple is the exposed pipe body length.
A standard pipe nipple has visible unthreaded pipe, while a close nipple is almost completely threaded.
This design reduces the installation distance between fittings and makes it more compact.
